This is the single most common wrong turn on the subject, and it is an easy one to take: people read that Sonic does half price drinks, order a milkshake at 3 PM and pay full price for it. Shakes, milkshakes and Blasts sit outside the afternoon window, every day of the week.
The half price shake offer is real, it simply belongs to the Sonic app rather than the drive-in clock, and it runs in the evening rather than the afternoon. If a milkshake is the reason you are going, open the app first and check what is live in your account. Turning up at 2 PM will not do it.
Half price burgers are a different story, and the honest answer is that they are not a standing deal. Happy Hour has never covered food, so a cheeseburger at 3 PM is a cheeseburger at full price. Sonic's store-level pricing carries one price per item per location with no weekday variants in it either, so a half price burger Tuesday you have heard about is a local promotion or an app offer rather than a national menu price. Both of those are real things, they are just not something a price guide can quote you.

Weekends, Holidays and the One Real Exception
Saturday and Sunday work exactly like a Tuesday. There is no reduced weekend version and no day of the week that gets left out, which is unusual enough among fast food promotions that people keep asking.
The exception is not a Happy Hour rule at all, it is an opening hours one. On a major holiday a drive-in may open late or close early, and if the restaurant is shut at 3 PM then nothing is half price at 3 PM. That is worth one look at your local drive-in before you set off on Christmas Eve, and no thought at all on an ordinary Wednesday.

Size up rather than buy twice. The discount is proportional, so it rewards the larger cup, and two Mediums at half price cost more than one Route 44 at half price while holding less.
A Route 44 every day for a week is $27.23 at normal prices and $13.65 inside the window, so the habit costs $13.58 less a week and around $58.20 less a month. That is the whole trick: nothing clever, just a consistent two hour slot.
